On Thursday, February 22, Moravian Academy is pleased to celebrate Black History Month with special guest, Troy Lewis. Mr. Lewis is the author of Gas Money, a memoir of a six-year-old black boy growing up in 1960s Virginia and his soul-searching journey over the next five decades.
We hope many of you will read the book in advance of the author’s visit. Advance copies of the book may be purchased here. Mr. Lewis will be glad to autograph copies of the book after his presentation, so please bring yours with you to the lecture. We have also made copies available in the Upper School Library for students, faculty, and staff to peruse.
On February 22, Mr. Lewis will speak during “Community Time” in the Dyer Auditorium in Walter Hall on the Merle Smith Campus. Parents are welcome to attend this exciting event, but a limited number of seats are available, so please RSVP by emailing Mrs. Katie Burd at kburd@mamail.net.
Upper School Diversity Co-Coordinators Mr. Dave Sommers and Mrs. Katie Burd will lead a discussion for parents immediately following.
