During Thursday Orff Ensemble classes, fifth-grade students have the opportunity to use their creativity to improvise and compose their own melodies. Using an already existing body percussion piece, the students transferred those rhythms to our Orff Instruments. The form of this piece is ABA. The A section was already established, and students were asked to compose a B section with the guidelines: start on E and end on A. You will see the B sections performed as a Duet, and the music will appear in the corner. Enjoy!
What can happen when a fifth-grade class is curious about what they hear a teacher saying to their first graders just after recess? Creative ideas, that’s what!
Mrs. Fessler’s fifth-grade class heard Ms. Endress say to her attentive students, “Today’s story is ‘The Teeny Tiny Ghost and the Monster.’” Mrs. Fessler responded to her students’ plea to go hear the story and the rest is history.
Together, these two classes embarked on a week-long collaborative project. The two classes read the story and each student created their own monster puppet. Then in partners later in the week, they made short story videos using their colorful monsters.
