The Dot, by Peter H. Reynolds is an inspiring story about a passionate teacher who encourages a student to trust herself and her strengths to “make her mark.” This story shares how a small dot on a paper can evolve and grow to grand possibilities. It inspires all readers to be creative, courageous, and collaborative.
This globally popular book is now celebrated every year on September 15th under the name of International Dot Day. On this day, the three BIG C’s are celebrated: Creativity, Courage, and Collaboration.
This story captures exactly what our Moravian Academy teachers do to build and maintain a culture of curiosity. Every day, our teachers are inspiring each of our students to trust the abilities they have that is unique to each of them. Several of our teachers and students celebrated this book by reading it, listening to it, and making their own mark. As the photos below show, our second teachers, Mrs. Sarah Harshman and Sra. Yuli Vanegas, helped our students celebrate International Dot Day by helping them “make their mark!”
