On Wednesday, April 10th, a combination of ten fourth and fifth graders were selected to represent Moravian Academy against numerous schools and students across the district at the Regional 24 Challenge® Math Tournament held at Colonial IU20 in Easton, PA.
Accompanied by Mr. Pomeroy and Mr. Andriko, the students arrived at the competition at 8:45 am ready to compete and spent nearly three hours putting their math skills to the test. All students competed in two general rounds of the tournament and the twelve highest scorers in the competition advanced to the semi-final round.
Fifth-grader Nikhil Skandan ’26 finished the general rounds with one of the highest scores in the room and represented Moravian Academy in the semi-final round. After winning his semi-final group, Nikhil advanced to the championship round where he was matched up against two very tough opponents. Despite a large and diverse field of 86 students, Nikhil Skandan continued to demonstrate perseverance throughout and was crowned champion of the Regional 24 Challenge® Math Tournament!
Congratulations to Nikhil and the rest of his teammates, Shaan Ailawadi ’26, Faust Capobianco ’26, Aveer Chadha ’26, Misha Desai ’26, Elijah Eckman ’27, James FitzRandolph ’27, Aaron Gordon ’27, Oliver Ritchey ’27, and Max Williams ’26, for a successful and exciting experience at the tournament!
