On Friday, February 8, Eric Trinkle ’20 and the Moravian Bikeworks Shop donated four adult bicycles, two children’s bicycles and one tricycle to Esperanza for Bethlehem.
Math teacher Mrs. Marilyn Reiter and Mr. Mike Petko from the Maintenance department assisted in the transportation of the bikes. Pastor Tracy Robinson was delighted to accept the donated bikes, which will be distributed to families in his congregation. He invited Eric to visit anytime. Eric is interested in possibly teaching the new bike owners how to care for their bikes.
Moravian Bikeworks students meet during Activity time to learn to repair bicycles. Operating out of a workshop in Couch Hall on the Upper School campus, the program welcomes donations of adult and children’s bikes in any condition, overhauls and rehabilitates them and then donates them back to the community in excellent, usable condition. The program also teaches interested students about bicycle repair from routine maintenance all the way to more complex repairs.
