Did you know that 1 in 59 people in the United States is diagnosed with Autism?
Being curious, I recently read a magazine and one of the articles mentioned how vaccines given to babies right after they’re born may have some relation to Autism. I researched more and to my surprise, learned that 1 in 59 people in the United States is diagnosed with Autism, which is a large percentage of people. Intrigued, I learned more about Autism and set a goal which was to help children and adults who are diagnosed with autism so I ended up joining the organization Autism Speaks.
Autism Speaks is an organization that wants to raise awareness of autism. The goal of the organization is to assure that each person diagnosed with Autism is not left out and instead, is included in their communities, schools, offices, etc. Through awareness, the goal is to get one step closer to a society where people with autism are valued for their unique talents and gifts.
Join me on Saturday, April 27th from 7:00 am until 12:00 at the Steelstacks at Artsquest Center in Bethlehem for the Autism Speaks walk. Register today. Walkers assist with raising awareness and money for Autism Speaks (85 cents of every dollar funds research, advocacy, programs, and services). Another event is World Autism Day which is on April 2nd, 2019. Donate 5 dollars and you will get a blue lightbulb specially designed for Autism Speaks. All you have to do is light up your front door to show your support towards helping Autism Speaks.
